Are you hiding clutter in your loft space? Clutter that you could turn into Cash this Winter?

I relate to my loft space as “head space”, so filling up your head space can literally feel like there is no room for new thoughts/plans and space to process your life.

Now is the time to take out your Christmas decorations.  Often these are stored in your loft. Utilise this time to glance around at the contents up amongst the decorations and jot down briefly your finds.

As we approach the New Year, and on returning our decorations to the loft space, consider how best to store them.  I have discovered that the quickest and easiest way to find things at short notice is to create Zones.  Storing your items in clear containers and labelling will make it simple and easy to find.    I suggest the following Zones to organise your head space.

  • Luggage Zone, keep all suitcases segregated and close to the hatch if in constant use.
  • Keepsake family memory boxes (to store each member’s memories)
  • Unused gifts
  • Seasonal wear/equipment ie Ski/Summer holiday items
  • Box games/outgrown toys
  • Seasonal clothes
  • Hobby/stamp collection
  • Antiques
  • Broken furniture for repair
